EmPower Place
Challenge:
How might we nourish the bodies and minds of all children?
Solution:
The HTC team led the participatory co-design and supported partners in securing grant funding that enabled EmPower Place to become a reality. The project embeds a learning center that is one part library, one part science museum, and one part meal program into Missoula’s popular Food Bank and Community Center. Serving the community, neighborhood children, and visitors to the Food Bank, through programming that is rich with role model engagement, STEM, and early childhood literacy, it recently was awarded an Association of Science Technology Centers Edgy award for community and visitor engagement.
