Six years ago, Elysa Fenebock and I found ourselves standing on a windswept island off the coast of Brittany, France. We had been invited by a French industrialist to help him bring a co-creative approach to his social impact work. His home—a former fort perched on a cliff covered in oysters at the edge of the sea—became our retreat, our laboratory, and, unexpectedly, the birthplace of something bigger than we had imagined.
For three unforgettable days, we worked with him to reimagine how collaboration could drive change. But between strategy sessions and long dinners under a blanket of stars, Elysa and I kept coming back to a deeper conversation: What does it mean to design your life? How do we navigate moments of uncertainty with creativity, clarity, and purpose?
It turns out, the same principles we use to tackle grand challenges—human-centered design, creative problem-solving, and intentional iteration—are just as powerful when applied to our own lives. That island gave us the space to step back, reflect, and map out the foundations of what would later become the Renewal Workshop.
Now, after years of collaborating—from the classrooms of Stanford d.school to innovation hubs across the world—we’re bringing this experience to you.
The Renewal Workshop is a 2.5-hour virtual space designed to help you slow down, step back, and gain clarity on what comes next. Maybe you’re searching for your north star, pivoting your career, or simply sensing that something new is calling. Whatever your path, this workshop will help you define what you want, sketch a blueprint for it, and create an action plan to move forward with resilience and joy.
And while we won’t be gathering on a private island (this time!), we promise to bring that same spirit of reflection, connection, and possibility to every moment.
Join us for this journey. Your next chapter is waiting.
